Eminent Domain/Condemnation
We have represented the Department of Transportation of the State of Georgia for over twenty (20) years in the acquisition of right of way for the construction and improvement of the State Highway System in Northeast Georgia. We have represented numerous city and county governments in the acquisition of land for public uses, including the expansion of airports, landfills, water treatment plants, parking, drinking water reservoirs, conservation easements, parkland, and recreational facilities, and also in the acquisition of easements for water and sewer lines.
We have assisted many land owners in obtaining just compensation for the taking of their land against power companies such as Georgia Power Company, Georgia Transmission Corporation, and the Tennessee Valley Authority; against the U.S. Forest Service; and also against numerous cities and counties which our firm does not represent, including Hall County and the City of Gainesville.
