Samuel L. Oliver
Joining the firm in 1969, Mr. Oliver is managing partner. He specializes in the areas of corporate and business law, estate planning and administration, and banking.
Mr. Oliver's emphasis is on representing locally owned businesses and professionals. His work extends to mergers and acquisitions, buy/sell agreements, personal estate planning and estate administration. He has served as Special Assistant Attorney General since 1973.
He is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia and the Gainesville-Northeastern Circuit Bar Association. He is a past member of the board of governors of the State Bar of Georgia. Mr. Oliver also is a past member of the Gainesville Estate Planning Council.
A founding director of GB&T Bancshares and its predecessor Gainesville Bank & Trust, Mr. Oliver has served on the board since 1987. He also has held many leadership roles in the community serving on numerous non-profit boards. He is a past member of the Gainesville Planning Commission. As a member of Kiwanis, he is a past president and lieutenant governor.
He is a member of Grace Episcopal Church serving on the governing board for three terms and as senior warden for two terms. With 12 years of service from 1980 to 1992, Mr. Oliver is a past member of the Gainesville Board of Education. He also is a past member and former chairman of both the Northeast Georgia Community Foundation and the Gainesville College Foundation.
An honors graduate with an A.B. from the University of Georgia , he earned his L.L.B. from the University of Georgia School of Law. Over the course of his career, Mr. Oliver has pursued ongoing legal education relating to his specialty areas.
