James E. Mahar, Jr.
With the firm since 1974, Mr. Mahar has practiced law for over 45 years and has 37 years of experience in litigation. He has been mediating cases since 1992.
In 2011 he took the position as Of Counsel to the firm limiting his practice to mediation and arbitration. He has mediated more than two thousand cases.
His mediation skills have been recognized by his election as a founding member of the Georgia Academy of Mediators and Arbitrators and his election to the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals. He has also been appointed by the Georgia Supreme Court to serve as a Special Master in attorney discipline cases.
Having an undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Georgia, he also holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Georgia School of Law. Prior to entering law school, Mr. Mahar served as a captain in the U.S. Army and is a Vietnam War veteran.
